Golden Vine Shirt – Naturally Dyed with Turmeric, Pomegranate & Indigo
 
A vibrant expression of Ajrakh craftsmanship, the Golden Vine Shirt is dyed entirely with natural plant based and mineral pigments. The warm golden yellow tones come from turmeric and pomegranate skins, while the blue/greenish details are achieved with natural indigo. Iron dye forms the black outlines, and the lighter areas emerge through a layer of resist printing, a hallmark of this ancient technique.
Each layer of colour and pattern is applied using a separate hand carved wooden block, precisely layered to create the intricate design. This print requires three interlocking blocks, each adding a different element of the pattern before a final background dip dye enhances its depth and richness. The result is a breathable, lightweight, and effortlessly wearable shirt, steeped in tradition.
 
From seed to shirt, every step is intentional. The cotton is grown without GMOs or harmful pesticides, then hand printed, naturally dyed, and washed in flowing water by master Ajrakh artisans in Kutch. Tailored in a small, family run workshop, each shirt is finished with handmade coconut buttons, a subtle nod to its earthy origins.
