Indigo resist Long-sleeve Ajrakh shirt

A relaxed long sleeve shirt made from mid weight organic cotton and printed by hand in small batches. Designed for everyday wear, with a breathable feel that is comfortable from the first wear and softens with time.
Finished with a straight hem and an offset top button, it works worn open or buttoned and layers easily through the seasons.

The cloth is printed using the traditional Ajrakh method and dyed using only plant and mineral based dyes. I work with a tenth generation Ajrakh printing family in Kutch, who carry out each stage slowly and carefully using hand carved wooden blocks and age old methods.

This shirt features a repeating geometric pattern printed using the interlocking block technique, where multiple blocks are aligned by eye to form a continuous design. The colours come from natural indigo and a layer of resist print, producing tones that settle and deepen with wear.

Because the cloth is printed and dyed by hand, each shirt may vary slightly in tone and alignment. These variations are a natural result of the process and mean no two pieces are exactly the same.
